zeroing a rifle for a tactical class

I'll be taking my first tactical rifle course, i'm told most of the shooting will be up to 25 yards or so. What range would be best to zero the rifle at?

The reason i ask is that:
    1) i have little to no experience shooting rifles....and
2)while the rifle shoots nice groups, when i shot the rifle at 10 yards the poi is quite different than when i shot at 25 yards.

I got 2 different recommendations at the range, one is to zero at 12.5 yards, somone else suggested 100 yards might be better?

The rifle is a sig 556 (shoots 5.56 and 223).
    thanks

Zero for 50y/220Y as it's the flattest trajectory for the 5.56/.223. Assuming height over bore of 2.7" (AimPoint, EOTech or Iron Sights usually), you'll be about 1.25" low at 25Y.
BTW - where are you taking your Tac Rifle course?

I hope this is a beginners class.... I would suggest an Appleseed course first, even a weekend apple-seed camp out.

Only reason that I ask is that you mentioned 25Y range and the only one I know of in this area is USTC (Blackwater) in Otay Mesa. If you're going to that one, prepare to have a great time

Sweet! Prado only has a 50y rifle range anyway so you won't be taking any long shots. I'd get out to Angeles or Pala and zero your rifle prior to the class myself. You would not believe how much time is burned from people zeroing their rifles during class.
If you need any help this weekend, I have to zero something myself so drop me a PM if interested in a meetup.
