Rear Take down pin / AR15

Ok, now I want to put one of those easy removal rear take down pins on my AR15, but that darn detent pin is keeping the rear pin in. How do I take it out, should I hit it harder or is there a trick. I would hate to break anything because I want to buy another lower for other accessories

The spring loaded detent that keeps the rear pin from coming out is removed by by taking the buttstock (for a fixed stock) or the buffer extension (for telescoping stocks) off. When you remove the stock you'll see the spring sticking out the back of the receiver.

Once the spring is sticking out of the receiver, remove it. Then lightly tap the upper on its buttstock area down and the detent pin should move out of its slot and the take down pin should pull right out. No force is necessary.
