    Muzzle brake cleaning?

Quick question for Badger Thruster or any muzzle brake owners...

How do you clean your brake? I've heard that carbon buildup in the brake around the crown will eventually detriment accuracy, so how can this be combated? Or is what i heard just bs? I know the Badger Thruster is basically a permanent mod, can't remove and clean like others.

Is there anyway to clean the rifle crown with a brake on?

BS, I've seen guns with thousands and thousands of rounds downrange without any cleaning of the crown, lots of carbon buildup and still shot sub MOA groups. In fact Zak Smith, of demigod LLC and Thunder Beast suppressors has written at least one article documenting this exact situation.

Ultrasonic cleaners make quick work of cleaning brakes and such.

I guess I clean my brake because I prefer it to look clean no other reason really

I soak a bronze bore brush in some Hoppes solvent then clean out all the carbon, then compressed air to blow it dry, finally apply a very light coating of oil and call it good

I too am a little dubious about a the brake getting some normal build on it hurting your accuracy. That is unless you are talking really micro increments and a LOT of dirt I would imagine.

Anyway I usually wipe down a day's shooting off the brake. I get in there with a q-tip too and a solvent sometimes and wipe of with clp. Since it gets the business end of a blast, it's going to get burnt - that's all good.
