    very very loud compensator?

Was at the range last weekend, and a SCAR-light had, I THINK, one of these on it....and i honestly DID not believe the guy that it was .223 because it HONESTLY felt and sounded like an 8mm. I could feel the force it gave out all over my body unlike any other .223 rifle i have EVER been next to.. Does this compensator make it much louder? I was very confused.

The Mod 3 compensator (5.56) was designed to reduce muzzle rise, flash signature, noise, and lateral pressure. Extended version of the Mod 2.

    Yes, it is that loud.

But it is loud because it is an excellent comp.

20" barrel with a 10x scope, at 200 yards the target does not leave the glass... makes follow-on shots easy.

I have one on my FAL. You really don't notice it when you're the one pulling the trigger.

              LOL!

And it's not so bad downrange either

Seriously... the 5.56 is "so" loud.
The PWS simply redirects the noise back at the firing line, rather than downrange.

That's one of the differences between a flash hider and a comp, and the better the comp, the louder it will be on the line.

Seriously.. My 20" featureless feels like a .22lr

What range was it? I was at LARGC on Sunday at the 100 yard range and some guy was talking to my buddy about the compensator. His rifle has a SJC titan which is different than the PWS FSC. It is nasty to be next too when fired due to the angled ports to the rear/side.

There are better compensators but they are also louder and more annoying. One of the best is the JP recoil ELIMINATOR. It's also ugly as sin.

There was an extensive test done in an articla in Front sight magazine (USPSA publication- no affiliation with crazy scientologist gun school). The Primary weapons brake came in dead last for measureable effect against 8 other common ar-15 type comps.

The miculek, and the TTI (the two cheapest of the bunch) came in first for most rearward recoil mitigation and control of muzzle rise.

The PWA is not worth $10 to anyone who is without a foil hat.

I have the AAC NSM (Non-Suppressor Mount) brake as well and really enjoy it. Sure, it's not the most effective brake on the market, but it does work and only adds 5/8" to the OAL length and has neglible mass.
