Fixed or flip up front sight?

What's a good front flip up sight to go with the ARMS 40L rear flip up sight? I'm kind of leaning towards the MI & Samson.

I say the fewer moving pieces, the better.

While you're flipping your front sight up the other guy isn't and he's busy putting bullets on target. I love the fixed - fool proof - front sight sitting in my red-dot-o-death's view. Instant confirmation that both sights are zeroed and if the dot-o-death fails I just keep shooting. YMMV.

If the rifle is just for fun do what you want to it but a weapon ought to be 100% fully functional.

Now I'm considering a fixed. Can I get your guys opinions?

Does it go on a rail or on a front site gas block?

I'm going for a gas block mount. My other option would be to go with a front gas block w/ flip up sight. What would you recommend?

I recommend a barrel-mounted dedicated flip-up sight over a railed gas block with a sight clamped on it.
Depending on your budget, consider the PRI, GG&G, KAC and YHM.

I have a PRI flip/gas block on one of my rifles and I like it. The YHM is a little more affordable, however.

This is what i've been running on my M4gery. Works well enough, and easy to install. My only complaint is that the thing doesn't lock in the folded position. It stays folded well enough on it's own, but i'd kinda like to see it be locked in that position. (maybe it's just mine...)
