Where can I go to get custom 10/22

    Sup Fellas (and ladies)

Was at the show awhile back and saw a booth that had a bunch of custom 10/22's. I'm really thinking about getting one because it is cheap to plink with. Want to know if anyone knows of a good place to buy them complete (Modified [provide link if possible]). I saw some pretty cool ones at rimfirecentral i think. I dont want a stock one only because i dont want to worry about bedding the barrel and all that, I dont have the time trying to build it up myself

Volquartsen has some sweet custom 10/22's but if I recall they aren't exactly "cheap." www.volquartsen.com

Building it up would be fun, but I can sympathize on the time issue.

You might check out the classifieds section over at rimfirecentral. Good stuff pops up from time to time. It's possible to get a good deal because custom 10/22's are kind of like custom cars. You don't get all the money you put into it back when you sell. Good luck.

It doesn't take any real time to 'build' a 10/22. Assuming you have a bone stock out of the box 10/22 and the barrel, stock, scope, scope base, scope rings, and other small parts you may want to replace on the stock gun, it will take you all of a couple hours to do (short of bedding). Most people don't even bed their actions. At the bare minimum, all most people do is replace the hammer with a Volquartsen hammer, the barrel with a .920" bull barrel, and a stock that accomodates the bull barrel (ie: Hogue Overmold). That doesn't take all of 30 min to swap out, if that.

In the amount of time it will take for you to shop around on the Internet for a used 'custom' 10/22 that you like, you could have built it yourself.

you don't have 2 hours to spare? cause that's all it's going to take to piece together a bull barrel, new stock, and other accessories (hammer, buffer, extractor, springs etc).

now, if you were to make your own wood stock, that's another story.

on my 10/22, all I'm leaving stock is the receiver and bolt/recoil spring. replacing everything else will only take about an hour at most. I'll spend most of that time messing with the scope most likely (I'm getting a complete trigger group, and that is where alot of time is taken up.)
