There are a couple factors to consider and this post pretty much sums it up.
From Snipershide
Originally posted by TOP PREDATOR...once clearance of the objective lens is achieved, the lower the scope:
1. the better the line of sight is in relation to the actual bullet trajectory
2. the closer the line of sight is to the trajectory, the less amount of adjustment on the optic is used up for zeroing purposes in relation to the bullet arch.
3. some consideration HAS to be give to cheek weld / eye alignment / comfort - if you are struggling to see through the optic you are opening another can of worms when it comes to consistancy or pulling shots, etc. as you are trying to fit yourself to the rifle / optic combination instead of making the rifle / optic combination fit to you,
4. the degree of canting stays the same, but the effects are more pronounced when taking the line of sight into play, referencing #1 & #2.
5. not mentioned yet, but for practicality (field use) the higher the optic is off the receiver, the better chance of it getting knocked around, getting caught on stuff, etc. Keeping closer also allows you to "work the dials" closer to your rifle, decreasing movement.Comment

I would go with Seekins Precision rings. (He just launched his new website and there are still some bugs, but there is a Snipershide discount on the first order) Lifetime transferable warranty!Comment

56mm is just the lens. I don't know the actual overall diameter, but if I take Nightforce numbers, 65 OD for 56mm, and Badger Base numbers, 20moa is 6mm high, the 35mm 1" high rings should work.
(1.00+0.24)-(2.56*0.05)=-0.04 which is less than 0 and supposed to be no go, but I think the barrel taper from the receiver will make it work. The 0.95" rings might even work if there is enough taper.
ETA: I use NF and Badger numbers because I have that data available and is just an estimate for your numbers since you are using a 56mm obj and 20 moa base.Last edited by dvsdev; 08-01-2011, 8:22 PM.Comment
