There are many many companies making pistol grips, vertical fore grips, rails, receivers, and other parts. But only Magpul makes AFG. Why?

Because they're the only ones who thought of it first? I also believe it's a patented design/idea.I provide opinions...

I'm sure there's at least one company in China that makes them.DiaHero Foundation - helping people manage diabetes. Sending diabetes supplies to Ukraine now, any help is appreciated.

Because it is an example of another firearm add on that is not needed. Magpul "made up" the need for the AFG and they have a shameless amount of self promotion for their products. The AFG does nothing that a short vertical fore grip or just naturally holding a rifle does not do.
No I am not a Magpul hater, I do like PMAG's but some of their stuff is worthless.Comment

I like it as well. It can be a lot more comfortable than the VFG. I still run a VFG, but mostly because of looks. But the AFG I tested was great.
It also really nice that it is legal on AR pistols thanks to an ATF opinion letter.
People are just hating to hate. I am NO Magpul Kool-Aide drinker. I've had knock down drag out arguments over some of the content in the video and some of their techniques with other members here. But I give credit were credit is due. This is a nice product that has its merits.
It would be pretty hard to make something similar w/o violating their patent. It is a very unique concept, and these days the write patents is such an extremely broad way without any critical oversight that I am sure they patent applies to anything remotely close.
Chinese knocks are plentiful none the less.Last edited by tacticalcity; 07-30-2011, 4:35 PM.Comment

so you are faulting a company for promoting their own product?Because it is an example of another firearm add on that is not needed. And I couldnt disagree more about using a stubby vfg or "naturally holding a rifle"
with a vfg you can get close, really close even, but it doesent have the same support over all.
Lets also keep in mind, the AFG is by far cheaper than most other VFGs out there (not counting magpuls own products)The California Moderate Centrist Militia member in exile
