    Who owns a Sig 516?thoughts?

I searched the forum but no feedback available.I'm ordering one soon.I like the ammo flexibility and the idea of an overbuilt piston.I laughed a little when I watch a video from Sig that said it's "self cleaning."Someone will have to exlain that.I would love to get a LWRC but alas it's way out of my price range. Is there any other options in the $1300 range?I really appreciate any input, thanks in advance.

The only Sig rifle that sucks is the 556R?

I have a Sig 516. I really like it. It seems to work very well, and like all pistons, it keeps the chamber clean.

The only *****ing that I have heard about it is that they copied the LWRC bolt... but if it is a good bolt, that works out better for the Sig buyer.

If I had the money to spend over again, I would still buy it.

I have SIG516. It came standard withe the rail, SIG SAUER red dot sight, Magpul Moe stock, Magpul grip and sling.
I have added Troy Rail cover, Magpul XTM rail covers, Magpul AFG2, Magpul BAD lever, Magpul PMAG 10/30, Bullet Buton, Troy front HK style tritium folding sight, Troy rear Di-optic tritium folding sight, offset light mount and SureFire G2x PRO light.

I have shot around 2000 rounds trough it. Never had misfire or jam. Very little recoil fills great. I am using Golden Bear, Silver Bear, Federal, PMC and different factory reloads. After having about 750 rounds trough it i stopped to clean the rifle in order to see when it gonna fail, but after 1200 rounds it never failed. I havent tried water or mud test
            So definitely will recommend.
I am waiting for SIG716 to come out so i can buy it.

Curious if you can tell me how much windage you had to use on that rear Troy sight? I just purchased a 516 upper and I sent it back to SIG for repair, it had a crooked front gas block - I don't mind a few notches but this was almost to the edge of travel. /threadjack

Since it came with SIG STS-081 red sight, first i adjusted the red sight, then after couple of days when i got my Troy sights i adjusted them to co-witness my red dot.

I just bought mine. I love the gun. For what I paid for I think its a hell of a price. I like the way it feels I don't understand all the hate on the 516 from another website. But the price is what attracted me to the gun. The guy I bought it from disassemble the 30 round mags and install the bb I sent to him and the 10 round mag to make it CA legal.
