My Arsenal Saiga AKM Finally Showed Its Weak Point - U.S. Made Disconnector

4,000 Russian commercial rounds shouldn't have put much stress on this SGL-21. Hopefully my Tapco replacement arrives before the weekend match.

Any technical or legal issue if I use a foreign surplus disconnector? and replace the gas piston with a U.S. made one to comply with 922r.

I highly doubt anyone will know or care if you have a surplus part. Alot of us made parts aren't even marked

I have a few take off disconnectors at the shop. I can give you one to get you up and running if you like. I would be more worried about the illegal configurtion of your rifle. I don't see a mag lock with that pistol grip.

The smart, learn from their own mistakes.
The others, well......they just never learn.

You can't see the whole rifle what if there is a grip fin on that pistol grip?

Thanks for the generous offer. I'll drop by your shop later in the week if Tapco FCS doesn't get delivered tomorrow.

Rifle is a standard featureless setup.

Sorry about your disconnector man that sucks, hope that it gets worked out with a new part (your right it shouldn't do that I wonder if it was a bad batch). Question how do you like the trijicon set up on the side rail mount? Does it work with your stock good?

Well, all my battery-powered red dot sights have been languishing in the parts bin ever since I started using Trijicon TR-24 scopes. That'll tell you something.

You get a chin-weld instead of a cheek-weld with a bare factory stock. For a perfect cheek-weld, mine is configured with a Blackhawk cheek rest. A 1-inch buttpad is added to cure the eye-relief issue when shooting prone. Warsaw length stock is shooort.

nice man thanks for the info. Ya I've heard that about the whole chin weld thing.

Also curious did you contact arsenal? I was thinking maybe you can get a new part from them free since the part failed.

First thing i did was ditch that arsenal trigger setup for a tapco. I do not like the 2stage trigger on an ak.

I always ask the OEM for info first when parts start failing on my guns. This time I asked Arsenal customer service whether I can use non-Arsenal made disconnectors in their fire control group. Their Email reply is to use only Arsenal Inc. made parts and buy a replacement disconnector from K-VAR.
