I think the Mod "Mach1" has a huge knowledge base on that rifle and its accessory line. I think.... I know there are several guys with a great amount of knowledge on them...they just haven't responded to your thread yet. Give it time and bump it...start a new thread after a bit. Not everyone scans the forums daily.

      Hope this helps
true true and im having problems making an account on the CZ forums.

It's not cheap but neither was your Aimpoint.
True it aint cheap but it would be as much as getting the FAB handguard, receiver mount and optics mount also. Which is why i was looking at that one made by NEA or NEIT.

          Optics rail mount

I do not believe the forward hand guard rail is stable enough for an optic. It has enough play in it where shots past 150 yards would be off too great to hold any acceptable MOA accuracy. The style of weapon is already MOM (minute of man). You add in a little more wobble and its now MOB (minute of barn).

Like I said though... I can be very very wrong here. I know the AR15 family of weapons only.
I have looked at that and for that and the rail mount for a grip would run me around the same price for a good quality gas block mount. from what i have heard they are pretty solid if you put up some cash.

A guy in the CZ forums tried it and it was a piece of crap on his VZ plus i would still need to spend more on a accessory rail and such.

Mako has stated here they are stopping GMG from using the Mako name, but I dont know if Fab is doing the same..or even if Fab licensed them at all.
GMG does not clone any of our military grade products. GMG is an airsoft line that Mako used to distribute, only in the US. Due to the fact that distributors and dealers listed GMG products, which are not intended for serious use, as Mako or as FAB products, Mako will no longer be the distributor of these products. By listing the GMG products as Mako or FAB, these distributors fooled buyers into believing they were buying products that were much higher quality than they were.

GMG has nothing to do with FAB Defense, and the quality of the GMG products should not be taken as a reflection on the quality of FAB products.

Any true clone of a FAB Defense product made in China or anywhere else, is an unlicensed patent violation.

Since the vz.58 is not a common weapon, I don't expect the vz.58 accessories to be knocked off by the Chinese. They tend to concentrate on our fastest-selling products.

The polymer rail system, the SA-58, is stable enough to mount an optic, provided it is installed correctly. It mounts to the gas tube in the same way as the original handguard does. There are tabs that are designed to provide tension between the upper and lower handguards. These tabs will usually have to be fitted slightly, but should be left high enough that they create some tension when the gas tube is installed. There is generally no need to remove the handguard, and the gas tube can be removed for cleaning with the handguard and optic installed on it.

The SA-58 is approved for issue by the Czech military, and I have seen photos of Czech SF using it in Afghanistan.

I have experienced a very good return to zero and zero retention after traveling with, using, and cleaning the vz.58 with the SA-58 installed. The polymer and construction are very good. It will be as stable as any other rail systems including aluminum ones, that mount the same way the original gas tube mounts, by hooking to the gas block and pinning to the rear sight base.

If I were setting up a vz.58, my preference would be, in order of preference:

1.) CzechPoint side rail and mount for the optic, with SA-58 handguard for the light weight. UAS-VZP or UAS-VZ Stock for proper cheekweld (or the recoil-compensating collapsible stock system with the cheekpiece).

2.) VFR-VZ Aluminum rail system for the optic (this is by far the most stable rail system for vz.58) and the UAS-VZP stock

3.) SA-58 handguard for the optic and one of the above listed stocks for proper cheekweld.

These are just my preferences - any of the above configurations will work well.

                CSA Optic Mount

Sa vz.58 with UAS-VZP stock and VFR-VZ rail system.

Sa vz.58 with Recoil-reducing stock system (SBT-V58) and SA-58 handguards.

By the way, please do not purchase any of our products from Zahal. Instead, please purchase from CzechPoint or one of our other US dealers. See below:

It has come to our attention that many of our products are being sold to individuals and dealers in the United States by several distributors based in Israel. Zahal.org and Israeli-Weapons.com are not authorized to sell these products to US customers. These distributors are shipping the products directly from Israel the US purchasers. The Mako Group is the only authorized US importer of these military accessories, and holds the correct permits for importing this equipment into the US.

In order to protect our customers, and especially our dealers, from inadvertently breaking the law, we ask that our US customers purchase our products only from our US based dealers and distributors. We also recommend that US purchasers look for the Mako Group logo on all product packaging to ensure that the product was legally imported.

The unauthorized import of weapon parts into the US carries serious penalties and is enforced strongly even when commited by individuals. Dealers take an even larger risk.

If you live in the US, please do not order any products from the following organizations:
                  Zahal: http://www.zahal.org, http://stores.ebay.com/ZAHAL-IDF-tactical-gear-store
                  Israeli Weapons: http://www.israeli-weapons.com, http://stores.ebay.com/Israeli-Weapons-Ltd

Instead, please order from US-based distributors or dealers.

We have received a letter from the ATFE concerning this issue. According to the ATFE letter, ". . . a Form 6 is required to import firearms parts into the United States. Individuals who purchase firearms parts direct from a company overseas are still required to file a Form 6 application . . ." The ATFE Firearms and Explosives Branch has investigated the US importation of the products sold by the companies listed above and found that, ". . . most of the items on the websites are considered parts as per the Firearms Technology Branch and would require a Form 6 for importation. Individuals who import firearms parts into the United States without a Form 6 could be penalized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection . . ."

We expect an investigation by the US Department of State into the illegal export of these products by Zahal and Israeli Weapons.

We are also receiving many customer service calls from customers who have received the wrong product from one of these companies, or who are angry because they were charged shipping from Israel after a promise of free shipping by one of these companies. We will no longer be able to deal with these issues. Beginning January 2011, US customers who order from these companies will no longer receive any customer service or warranty support from The Mako Group. Please contact us or check our website at www.themakogroup.com for a list of US distributors and dealers.
