Picked up my Savage 10FP 20" today (pics)

Can't wait to shoot this at Angeles on Sunday. We'll see how it does at 600 yards. My second precision rig, first one was a 700PSS but I love this lighter rig more.

Only possible upgrade now is a Badger Thruster brake I have in stainless that I'll park or krylon and put it on.

    Savage 10FP Tactical 20" .308
    3.5lb trigger
    Bell and Carlson Stock
    Harris BRM Swivel 6-9"
    Millett TRS 1 4-16x50 mil/mil
Warne Tactical 20MOA mount, Weaver 30mm rings
    Custom bolt handle
Montana Sling black leather sling w/ Uncle Mike attachments

I usually don't like paint jobs but this one is especially sweet looking.

Awesome! I love short, compact and handy rifles.

Expect some great groups from that Savage!

yeah, previous owner said best he ever got was 0.25MOA at 100 yards with winchester off the box ammo, and out to 500 yards his best group was about 4 inches and he said he was just a beginner.

gonna take it to angeles tomorrow and see how far we can ding steel. 600 or bust. i figure this gun's gotta be at least a consistent sub-MOA gun, and thats good enough for me!

Don, you own any Savages yourself? From what I can recall you run some nice rigs.

Yes, I've owned 2 Savages in .223 in the past. I first had one, sold it, and missed the accuracy so much I bought another one in nearly the same model except it was stainless. Those things were precise out of the box! You'll find out tomorrow soon enough. Even used it for a Long Distance clinic a few years ago in Sacramento and got hits out to 1000 yards with the little 223. I sold that one off to step up to a bigger 308 caliber and am currently having an affair with a Remington SPS Tactical. Still dialing it in and ordered some Federal Gold Match 168 grainers a few days ago to see really what this puppy can do. I've been to the range a couple times with it before and shot some USA Ammo 168gr ammo, but was only getting about .75 to 1 moa groups. Not thrilled nor content. I want touching groups. I LIKE touching groups. Much like the Savages I had owned.

Here are some pics of past and present...

                        The Savages are all gone.

Only current bolt rifle is the Remy 700 SPS 308.

I'm a one lady kind of guy, if they are good to me.

                            Accuracy out of the box...Savage.

                            Availability of parts...Rem.

It's a toss up. I'll say Remington cause it's more tacticool. And that's all that matters.
