    .22 conversion

OK so i am new to the AR platform and i have a stag 3L and i was looking at the .22 conversion kit because after 1000 rounds of .223 my wallet is running low. Correct me if I am wrong but all i have to do is take out my 5.56 bolt and throw this in (and the .22 magazine) correct?

    Thanks in advance,
    Kyle

Correct. I run 300-500 rounds of .22, then pull the conversion, run a Boresnake through the barrel 3 times, put the 5.56 BCG in and fir 3 rounds of 5.56 to blow out the gas system.
I also recommend you use copper wash ammo. It leaves less lead on the ramp and in the barrel.

I bought a Ciener kit, very similar to what you are looking at. It worked fine but was tough to get out when I was done. I had to tap it out with a cleaning rod. Be sure to lube the exterior of the kit so it will slide out when the time comes.

check out CMMG.They sell a lot of 22lr kits for AR. Black dog mags are great.I bought one years ago. They are fun and cheap to shoot.Just use good 22lr ammo,High speed. The grey factory one that they sell at CMMG might need a little shaving off the side of the mags to fit some AR receivers. The black dogs do not.All you have to do is take out AR-15 bolt, drop in 22lr bolt and the 22lr mag and go to go.I am not sure if They work on piston guns, never tried .

If you have a left-handed upper, you'll need a left-handed conversion. I think your only choice will be the Stag conversion unit. I don't know if anyone else makes a left-handed conversion.

You could always buy a dedicated upper like the CMMG or Spikes, it just won't be left-handed.
