Swap Barrel or Trade Uppers: What's the Best Way to Go?

Thought I'd take advantage of the collective wisdom/experience here to help me out.

I have a flat-top RRA upper with a 24" Shilen SS .920 barrel in 204 Ruger,; Hogue rifle-length free-float handguard w/ sling swivel, chrome BC. Shoots great, and is in great condition - but...... I want a 50 Beowulf.

Midway has a 16" 50 Beowulf barrel and bolt on sale for $229 'til the end of the month. I'd have to buy a gas block and gas tube, and I'd have to open up the ejection port for the Beowulf case. I can probably trade the rifle handguard for one of carbine-length.

What's the best way to go? Work an upper-for-upper trade, or sell my barrel, gas block, gas tube and buy the one from Midway? With the Shilen barrel and parts, I'd expect the value of the uppers to be about the same. I can enlarge the ejection port pretty easily, but I haven't found an oversized dust cover to use on a larger port.
