    Sling question U-15

What's the easiest way to attach a simple 2 point sling to an AR w/ U-15 stock?

I have to get ready for shooting school and just want a simple traditional 2 point sling as cheaply as possible without compromising function/reliability.

Front has stud on FF tube. What sling mount do I get to fit on the front nut? How do I attatch the sling to the rear of the rifle?

does the standard A2 velcro thing work? Or do i need to screw in some studs on the U-15's bottom end?

550 cord, duct tape, and some nylon webbing. Field expediencey.

Wrap the 550 cord around the stock and tape it in place leaving a loop to attatch your nylon webbing to.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

well couldn't you just drill a hole in the stock where a sling would go anyway and use a Uncle Mikes sling attachment like one of these

I never said it was a work of art, just that it would work. The stock while very functional and if I had to go that route it's what I would buy. But the stock isn't pretty.

This looks like the ticket. . . where's a good place to screw into the U-15? I guess I was looking for cheap, but I didn't want to mess up 2 painted rifles too badly the 1st time out.

Well If I was putting a sling swivel on it instead of using ToolboxXs sling mount( some people prefer their sling attached to the butt of the rifle) I would probably put it about an inch or two from the butt on the bottom of the stock like a regular rifle.

True. Why is that? Also, A1, A2, and M4 stocks have the sling attachement at the bottom. Anyone knows why? It makes more sense for it to be on the side.

i just pulled grant's u15 out of the box today.
my god that is a beautiful stock. you guys who say it is ugly... i dont know why you say that. you could realy give someone a world of hurt by buttstroking them with this rifle... course you would have to replace the plate with a steel one, preferrably cupped.

If it's on the side, it won't look so good at sling arms while marching in formation . . . More of a form over function thing I guess.

I was going to order one of these to shoot highpower, but I need a means to connect the sling during standing slow fire . . . I just can't find a good way to get the rifle up in my shoulder with the MMG.

Any chance of a "redesign" to add the sling connection like the A2 buttstock??

                          Thx duenor.

Yeah, it was really important to me that a rifle with the U-15 stock could be used to club zombies when the operator runs out of ammo. It's extremely strong.

I have toyed with some ideas for better sling solutions, but there isn't enough demand for me to go through the huge undertaking it would be for me to do the redesign and have more stocks made.

I have 16mo and 3yr old boys that take up all of my time after I get home from work. If I somehow managed to escape and work on a project there are a number of others I would work on first, like a stock for my Sig 556 LR-300.

I do have a small FAL project in the works, but just like the U-15 I won't release any info on that until I have product in hand.

                          -Grant

                            Hi Grant,

I might just take you up on those plates. . . PM is incoming. Shame I didn't think of this prior to painting everything, but I might be able to Duracoat the sling plates separately and bake 'em in the oven.

Thanks for sending the sling plates so quickly Grant,

I have them baking in the oven as I type. One mod I find very helpful with my girly soft hands is to round the corners on the plate. I left one of my plates as is, and only slightly rounded another one on the pink rifle, and the difference is huge in the web of my hand. So, before I painted the ones you sent me, I did this.

I think that little bit of grinding will make a huge difference in feel.
