    M1A Question

    Hello,

This is my 1st time posting (very sorry if I post this in the wrong section).
    I currently live in TN.
I have M1A Super Match purchassed in early 90's in California.
The flash hider has been replaced with muzzle brake.
Can I bring this M1A to California?

As long as it doesn't have a pistolgrip, vfg, collapsible stock, or flashider, you are good to bring it here and retain your standard mag release.

It's all stock (including the 20rd. magazine) Super Match exccept for the muzzle brake.

Btw - what is vfg ?

Any advise for return flight (from either LAX or SNA) as to deal with the security etc.
I will have the M1A in the Hard Case with latch lock and provision for additional lock.

      Rgds,

wow that thing must have a lot of USGI parts.
Just put the muzzle brake on and you are good.
Disassemble the 20rd mag and bring in as rebuild kit just to be safe.
I am not sure this legal or not, but somebody done this before. Mail the rifle to your CA address.

You cannot bring magazines with capacities greater than 10 rounds into CA unless you possessed them IN CALIFORNIA before 1-1-2000 unless you are a peace officer. I don't know if you have to be a CA cop or any state.

I purchased it in CA as a CA resident prior to 1/1/2000 but I became a resident of TN in 1998.

You will be fine with the 20 round mag.
