We need to know what "battle" your going into battle to recommend the gun.

If your going to battle Sasquatch an Ak will do good, if your defending yourself from a swarm of zombie midgets then a AR or a bolt action .22 on top of a hill getting headshots will do just fine as well

Buy used.. youll get a way better set up for cheaper.. As long as it was in good condition you wouldnt know the difference,.

Is there a rifle between the Garand and a Mosin? I'd say Saiga .308 but the accuracy's not really hot enough to merit the comparison. As an aside, has anyone converted the Saiga .308 to take Magpul magazines?
