    AR-15 short stroke FIX ???

Well, I have been trying for months to find out why my AR has been short stroking. Today I found it. It was in front of me the whole time. When I put the new trigger in I had installed the hammer spring upside down. This increased the tension 3 fold on the carrier when it cycled back. So a lot of the time it wouldn't make it all the way back causing a jam or no feed at all. The directions for the new trigger didn't show the orientation. I know some of you have had problems with the short stroking. Just make sure the hammer spring is oriented on top and not from underneath. I'm a happy man today. Good shooting

it's always those little basic things that get overlooked
you don't rise to the occasion,
you just fall back on your level of training.

I'm a tad surprised the cause revolves around this.

I am wondering if you have found a symptom - and you've just crossed back over the marginal line.

Check gas key staking for leaks.
Check for gas leaks around front sight base/gas tap.
Run with Wolf ammo, see if still cycles.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.

I tried all those favorites Bill. Even replaced the carrier the gas tube. Took out the buffer spring and cleaned and dry lubed same. Both my AR's started malfunctioning about the same time. That's because I had taken out and cleaned or removed deb re from the trigger group. It wasn't until I started manually moving the hammer back and forth that I realized there was to much tension there. Now it works
