I can imagine a good sized market for something to convert a mini14/mini30 to accept standard AR/AK mags... Wish I had the tools and skills...

If it's to take advantage of cheap import ammo, more than just the mag well will likely need to be changed, at least on the older mini 30s.

That's for sure. I bought a Mini-30 for just this reason ten years ago and it had 10-20% misfires, even with a Wolf hammer spring. I sold it and bought a Mini-14.

Maybe they got better with the overhaul.....

Buy a Saiga or SKS for 7.62x39.

Why doesn't the Ruger P-series pistols take Beretta 92 magazines? Why doesn't the 10/22 use a tube feed or stick magazines like every other semi .22? Why doesn't the Ruger M77 have parts commonality with a Rem700 or Win70?

Ruger is many things, but they ain't stupid.
