Well, I just got my new fixed mag for my SKS. Basically, a mod'ed Tapco 20 round removable SKS magazine from High Ready Tactical. Counts as 3 compliance parts too.
As you can see, it almost looks like a real evil black rifle now.

The mods on it are very simple. Basically two pins, one through the back of the mag to limit the follower to only allow for 10 rounds, and one through catch (not shown in the pics) that holds the mag in place when the mag catch on trigger group is pulled back.
See the little dot on the mag rib. That is the limiter.

The mag its self is pretty nice. It doesn't wobble at all, and the follower even pushes up the bolt hold open when empty.
It looks like about 10 minutes with a drill and a file will move it back to it's normal workings if one ever moves out of CA.
I have not taken it to the range yet, so I have no idea if it works well. It seems to take stripper clips okay. Plus, it looks pretty cool with the T6 stock in my opinion.
So far only two things annoy me about it. There is no way to quickly empty the mag like their was with the original fixed mag. One has to either pop out the rounds by hand, or you have to cycle the bolt (and with the floating firing pin of the SKS, cycling the bolt by hand is not a mindless action). The other annoyance is that while you can pop the floor plate off, the limiter pin blocks the flower from coming out of the mag body. One might be able to tilt the follower to have it pop around the pin, but I did not give it a try.
All in all. Way too much money to comply with 922r and California law, but hobbies are rarely logical.
