    Winchester Ranger 44Mag

My son-in-law picked up Winchester Ranger levergun chambered in 44Mag. Appears to be a variation of the Winchester 94. No owners manual or info. We were wondering whether 44 Spec. ammo would be able to feed, chamber and fire reliably and safely in this weapon. Just really curious, as I remember older tube fed .22's were capable of using 22 short, long and long rifle ammo interchangeably.

Yes, it should feed fine, especially if you use round flat nose 44 spec loads. I had occasional difficulties feeding wadcutters in mine, not a big deal just once in a while. Be aware that you can get a little build up in the front of the chamber using the shorter case. Just keep it clean.
