Need a little advice on AR build

OK so I've been planning on this build for a few weeks. I'm going to go DROS a lower here locally after the 4th. But I have a question on complete uppers. I've had my eye on the PSA 16inch 5.56 upper with MOE rear MBUS and hand guards. I need to know if I decide in the future to ad an optic if I will need to add rails to this upper to attach one? Or can it be attached without the need to add rails?

I'm a total newb to AR's so this might seem like a really dumb question and couldn't find it on the search here.
