Lots of good info. One other thing to consider. If the laws change, I'd like to keep my mags and take out the blocks or whatever. I'm not planning on doing it unless the law changes. No need. I got a ton of Chinese AK 30 rounders for SHTF from long ago. I'm not sure I like the "permanently modified" 10/20 10/30 mags. Any recommendations on which mags would be able to be easily put back to normal if things change?

I like the ASC 10 round magazines. I have two and although they have only been used for a couple hundred rounds downrange they are very good quality in my opinion. The followers move very smoothly and have been 100% reliable for me.

If you want a 10/30 magazine the Stag Arms ones from RifleGear are good enough. I have one and it has worked fine, although the follower isn't quite as smooth as the ASC ones. Although now that I have it modded back to a full 30 rounder (since I'm in a free state right now) it seems to be a lot more smooth. I think the spring wasn't attached to the follower correctly and it of course couldn't be corrected until the tabs that blocked the follower were drilled out.
