opinions on a nice ar 10 for around 1600

So I am going to sell my m1a. I know I might regret it, but I want a more accurate .308 semi auto. I won't be using it for anything but range work. I don't really worry about SHTF because I will be grabbing my ar-15 and my Fn SLP and going to work anyway, not bugging out anywhere. This gun will be strictly for range fun out to 100 min 1000 max.

So I am torn between a RRA and a DPMS, or buying a used nicer brand.

    What would you guys recommend?

You said that you don't worry bout SHTF and your going to be going to work, with an ar15.. if that is the case, you obviously are trained on the ar15 platform..{leo,gov,secret squirrel} if that is the case, the RRA will bug you, as it is not like many other 308 ar's in the fact that the bolt catch is, IMHO in the wrong place.. and will take some getting used too.. by no means am i saying that RRA doesn't make a quality weapon system, just that their bolt catch release is in the WRONG place for guys trained on the ar15 platform.. got a buddy deployed with me, that ones one, and it drives him nuts.. as we are carrying an ar15 for months on end.. and he gets home.. and goes to the range and fiddles around for the bolt catch..

now you did say it is just going to be a range toy, but I do like my ar 308 for that simple fact that it is just a big overgrown ar15.. a JD matched set I pieced together..

now the DPMS will just a big overgrown ar15.. or as many have said build one.. but for your price range, that just paid for my upper.. but it can be done..

          I bought a Aero Precision lower $284.00

and a olive drab LPK from Armalite. $ 95.00

          An A2 stock $ 85.00

          I purchased a Armalite upper. $800.00

          A bullet Button $20

          A 10 round magazine $30

I went with the olive drab Burris 3-9 scope $300.00

          Quick release rings $55

          Scope riser $25

$1694.00 including a great optic. I love this rifle and shoot it well and often. It eats everything I feed it. Brass only for me no steel unless the gun is from Russia.

I hope this helps. I wanted an Armalite, nothing else would do for me.

As you can see it is a perfect fit because Aero Precision makes Armalites lowers for them.

^That's one of the best AR-10's Ive seen!

BTW It looks like the bolt catch pin hasn't been installed all the way.
I'm guessing you took the picture right after you built it.

Mines DPMS pattern, its built on a Tactical Machining Lower and it all ran right around $1600 but I still need a better trigger. It shoots GREAT though. Weighs about 9lbs like this. 18 inch barrel form Black Hole weaponry, Troy 13.8 Extreme hand guard.

Yeah I could have saved myself a few bucks here and there but it shoots well enough I feel like I got my moneys worth. I didn't NEED to buy a chrome BCG, I could have gone with an A2 style flash hider, just these two things add up to around $150.00 to $200.00 depending on where you buy. I had the money at the time so I threw it at it.

Thats a channel provided to help install and remove the pin.

                    Thanks for the compliment.

I love that rifle, I took my time finding parts.
