Also, your friend doesn't have to go and do the background check if it's from his parents. His parents can go and buy it as a gift for him, and then give it to him. Private transfers of private property is still legal between parents and their offspring in CA, believe it or not.

Make sure that the parents don't tell the gun store employees that it's a gift though. The majority of gunstore employees are retards and will think it's an illegal straw purchase.

If he wants a Lancaster, he'd have to buy it used on account of the fact that in January, the Arizona Attorney General's office ordered Lancaster to stop selling rifles until they delivered on paid orders that, in some cases, have been pending for more than a year. Lancaster has earned over 50 complaints with the Better Business Bureau, and almost two dozen with the Arizona AG. As a result, Lancaster Arms was recently subjected to a criminal investigation.

I could never recommend Lancaster. From personal experience, I know that the owner of Lancaster has too many, uh, how can I put it politely...."integrity issues". Businesses that are operating on the up-and-up, generally don't get treated to a criminal investigation.

There are builders out there who work for or have shops of their own. I'd reaserch and ask around, then find a nice kit and order a receiver through them and let them work their magic.

As long as that rifle meets the minimum length of 30" you can have any stock you wish.

The Arsenal line of AK74 is probably one of the best options but also expensive . Next week we will be getting in some Waffen Werkes AK 74 rifles built on new Bulgarain kits wtih black poly stock sets and KG Gun Kote finish and they are very nice.
