    Ak Surplus Magazines drying up?

I have been noticing as of late the usual suspects (copes, 44mag, henderson defense, etc....) that are california friendly have been drying up for magazines as of late. More specifically AK-type rifle magazines (AKs, Galils). Is this the end of cheap surplus rebuild kits? I have plenty but could always use more to make extra 10/30s. Sadly I think I missed the boat on the galil mags. Yes, I could use the american made ones, but most of the time their function is pretty bad.

Not sure about that one. Last weekend at the Vallejo gun show rebuild kits were everywhere. I even found a couple of 40 rounders.

I'm not an AK guy so I don't pay much attention. Ill keep my eyes open at the next gun show. I did notice that my local store has a pallet of Tapco mags for $6. Are those in with the not so functional?
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

Tapco mags function fair I think, but sure do wobble a bit. The OP was refering to surplus mags though, generaly steel.

Check out LAK Supply's string, he seems to have a variety of AK mag rebuild kits and I thought I saw Galil on his post somewhere. Maybe he has something you're looking for, prices seem good.

AK magazines are probably the most common type throughout the world, I can't imagine the supply will ever dry up.

The World Bank estimates that out of the 500 million total firearms available worldwide, 100 million are of the Kalashnikov family, and 75 million of which are AK-47s
So, roughly one out of every 5 magazines out there will also be for an AK. And that's including pistols. Don't worry, some poor country out there will be ready to export a few pallets for us rich Americans (where we buy them with borrowed money, of course...)

I saw them everywhere at the gun show also. Even bought a couple.

Few thousand rounds through my 6 tapcos, never an issue, and no wobble at all in my saiga. In fact, they are a bit tight and have to wear down a bit on the sides.

What kind of prices were they at for the 30 rd AK?
