    Bransen comp beware

I had a bransen comp on my ar that broke the other day. They look like an a2 flash hider except the end is closed off with a small hole. While shooting my rifle the other day the whole end with the small hole disappeared turning it into an instant a2 flash hider. This upper use to be on a featureless build so as you know a flash hider would be a no go. I didn't get pics of it but here are some stock photos that will give you an idea of what it looked like.

Must have been an off-center bore job. Crazy! Your AR turned into an unreg'd AW in an instant!

Good thing you noticed AND FIXED IT PROMPTLY BY REMOVING THE NEWLY CREATED FLASH HIDER...

Used to be on a featureless build, meaning its now on a rifle which in it's current configuration allows for A2 flash hiders. Thats how I read it

Ooh okay, I can see it now. The "use" without the "d" threw me off...carry on.

Just to muddy the water- you do realize the US Govt & Colt list the A2 as a "compensator"? The A1 is a flash hider.

Wow I forgot about this thread. It happened but no pic. The comp had been on rifle for about 2 years. The rifle is a mid length with an A2 stock but it use to have a monster man grip. I just figured I would put out the warning to keep people out of trouble. It now has a yankee hill comp.

Yours is not the first instance in which this has happened. In fact, it's a pretty common phenomenon. The brake face is welded on to an A2 flash suppressor. That weld fails...and boom...back to A2.

They have been long noted as brakes to avoid placing on a featureless build for exactly this reason.
