Hi all.
I completed my carbine build a while back and am now looking to begin another project. I am interested in building a 5.56 mm DMR capable of consistently hitting a man-sized target at a distance of 300-500 meters.
The spiritual inspiration for my build is the USMC SAM-R:

As of now, the project is in the planning stage. i have a partial list of components, as listed below. Advice and suggestions will be most welcome and appreciated. Thanks folks.
- Stag Arms stripped lower receiver
- Rock River Arms lower receiver parts kit
- Stag Arms M16A2 receiver extension
- Magpul PRS stock (5.56 mm version)
- Magpul MIAD grip
- Magpul enhanced trigger guard
- LaRue Tactical Stealth upper receiver group (20" barrel, 13.2" handguard, rifle-length gas system)
- Magpul XT rail panels
- Harris bipod (BRM-S variant w/ LaRue Tactical LT130 QD mount)
- Magpul MBUS Generation 2 front/rear sights
The scope is still being decided on. Even when the build is finished (hopefully within the next year), I would still use iron sights only until I have grown comfortable with them. Then I would consider a scope.
P.S. The rifle will be traveling inside a Pelican 1720 weapon case. To do this, I would have to separate the upper and lower receivers. Would this affect the zero on the scope?
