First AR / First 1911 / First Post

    Whats up Calguners!

First I wanted to thank this site/people for all the information that was provided. It made my first AR build easy and less confusing on what I should/shouldn't buy.

This AR is not California legal yet as I live in PA and will be moving to So Cal in Dec (not 100% looking forward to the move, that is a whole other story). Bullet button is ordered and on its way. 30rd mag will stay in PA

The 1911 is a Ruger SR1911, picked it up at a big gun show we had over here last weekend. It seemed like the guy I bought it from was the only one who had it out of 1000+ tables so I was lucky to get it. Paid 700 + tax for it... not bad

    The AR is:

    Stag Lower
    Stag LPK
    Stag 0h 16" Upper w/ BCG - m4store.net
    Magpul MOE Stock
    Magpul Grip
    Magpul Trigger Gaurd
Some Generic Carbine Quad Rail - works good enough for me
    Magpul BUIS Gen1 (i think)
    NCStar P4 Sniper 4x32 scope

Total cost minus scope $825... scope was $72 at last weekends gun show.

Very excited to be a part of this site. Can't wait to get out to cali and maybe meet up with some people at a shooting range.

Welcome to CA. Don't listen to the people on here that bash the state, while there are some issues that need to be addressed, I still wouldn't want to live anywhere else. If you have other interest beside shooting, CA, can do a great job accommodating your interests. Not many states out there that you can go swimming in the ocean and later that day go skiing. If you are going to be shooting at Angeles I would be happy to show you around. Welcome to CGN.

      Welcome!

Nice purchases. Sorry about our ridiculous gun laws, but always happy to have another like-minded individual out here fighting the good fight.

I love PA but I'll suspect you'll find the weather a little more agreeable out here

Welcome. And you should disassemble the mag and bring it with you. Eventually we hope to use them again!

        Very nice look AR!

          CA

I guess I should have said I grew up in So Cal. Lived there for 24 years before I ventured out to Austin, TX and now Philadelphia, PA. I loved Austin and would move back there in a heart beat but the wife wants to go back to cali. and if she isn't happy then I wouldn't get to do things like spend $800 on a AR

Its been 6 years since I lived in Cali and I definitely look forward to coming home.

Stay. PA is awesome. Two buddies live there. CA is as terrible as it everyone states. High taxes, traffic, illegals, liberals, a state government that caters to illegals and supporting the lazy...It is true. I LIE NOT. I have lived in other states...Most here have not. This state is off.

Congrats and I hope the move is a good one in regards to a career. If you are only here a short time. Don't waste your time on buying too many guns here. If you are here for the long term, good luck.

I am really digging the Ruger 1911. I haven't wanted a 1911 until they announced that thing. I just wish it was available in black.

So far so good with the 1911. Put about 50 rounds through it over the weekend and it was AWESOME!

Are you Asian like me? Irvine is nice, pretty pricey. Not much has changed in the last 6 years except taxes have gone up, illegals gone up, stupid rules gone up. Welcome back.

                        Great combo. I love AR's and 1911's.

And don't forget to buy as many off roster guns as you can before you move here!

BTW, you are supposed to register the handguns here within 30 days.
