they always seem to be in this price range (over 300)
considering the price of a parts kit, and then considering the price of a golani, I think perhaps just buying a golani is a better deal

ehh, pass. I do have a friend that can weld actually, but this just isnt worth it to me.

Maybe if I could get a 80% receiver, that shouldnt be too hard on this gun.

Personally the best way if you've got the cash iis to get an early Magnum Research Import which are true IMIs but off list. They can be found typically under 3k.

That said there are several auctions on gunbroker for ORF receivers if you must have one.

It's prob best that it's not a true Galil reciever - many Galils are banned by name, and the Roberti-Roos list is a bit loose on Gaill entity.

An OOW clone reciever is fine however.

Don't pay don't play. It's more than just an AK in 5.56, It's also a highly desirable collector item being preban and is original. Obviously not for everyone if all you want is a blaster.

Oh and don't forget that CNC warrior is now producing a Galil clone receiver, reportedly a major improvement over the previous offerings from ORF/CAI/etc. This is the only non-IMI Galil receiver that I would consider at this time. Machined 4140 steel and heat treated.

But I'm not sure if they would ship direct to CA, last I heard they do not, unless things have changed. A middleman FFL may be required.

They offer them both in .308 or 5.56 http://www.cncwarrior.com/comersus/s...?idCategory=59 might want to jump onto their next production run.

Mine is from ORF and it seems to be working good thus far. I got lucky I guess. The "better" ones are caspian receivers though I have a friend with a caspian golani which doesn't work well...
