Historically Accurate VS Franken(Blank)

Just Curious, but for those of you building AK, FAL, or HK series Rifles do you build them to be Historically Accurate or do you just build them to "Work" regardless of parts?
I'm personally a bit more of a Modernist so as long as it functions and has a nice finish I could care less if my gas block is open or closed ear.

Actually I built up a lower to work with my FN 5063 so I can use The FAL MMG on it and also use my many 20 and 30 round detachable mags in it legally.
