    AK Reciever Build questions

    Hello all

i just bought a nodak spud ak47 reciever and i'm now shopping for a parts kit to build my first AK. i'm looking at a Bulgarian ak 74 parts kit from arms of america

Arms of America is a 100% US Military Veteran owned and operated AK Rifles and firearms business in Texas. Call us today!

    i few questions.
does anyone know if this kit will fit my ak 47 reciever ( seeing as its an AK 74 kit)?

its chambered as 5.45 is the magazine for that different than the 7.62X39

and lastly i am thinking of building my AK with a screw kit such as this one http://www.cncwarrior.com/comersus/s...p?idProduct=29

in which the rivets are replaced by screws i really like the way this looks has anyone else ever done this?

    thanks in advance.

Yes, an AK47 receiver will only work for an AK47 kit and AK-47 magazine.

Most people recommend against screws and consider them to be lower class builds, but I don't recall a "properly" built screw build ever coming apart.

74 kit on a 47 receiver will not work. The ejector is too short. The magazines and magwells are different for 5.45 and 7.62 also.

Undoubtedly someone will be along shortly to tell you how inferior a screw build is and how it's going to blow up and kill you.....that's a bunch of crap. Here's the problem with screw builds. You will have to tap threads into the trunnions. You will need to buy good taps for this. Chances are if you use cheapo hardware store taps you'll break one off inside the rear trunnion and be totally screwed. Also in the time it takes to do that you could have riveted several receivers. Also IMO screws look like dog sh*t.
