OLL rifle range near Santa Monica or West L.A.

My friend and I are looking to shoot our AR-15 OLL's near Santa Monica or LAX. The range near LAX said that you need fragible ammunition to shoot there. I only have M193 55 grain .223 rounds. Anyone know a range to shoot at? Also, will I be able to shoot my registered AR-15? Info would be helpful.

You can drive over to Angeles Crest range (open range in the mountains). Separate pistol and rifle ranges plus traps. I don't think they'll care if you shoot an AR (people with 50BMG are not uncommon there). The only downside for you is a bit of a drive. Just make it an all-day thing and you'll have a blast.

Angeles is where near everyone on the west side goes. Good range, out to 600yds. It takes about 20 minutes from the 405/10. They are completely OLL friendly.

You can shoot any ammo that isn't magnetic (the bullet doesn't stick to a magnet). Check their website for more info.

Angeles! But, if the drive is too long or their hours don't work for you, you can always drive up to Agoura Hills Target Range. It's an indoor 50ft range that allows anything upto and including 50BMG. I've even fired FA there! Of course, the FA weapons have all been 100% legal either LE or Class 3 FFL owned. Your legally configured rifles will be fine there and you can fire your M193 or even SS109 ammo there.

            50BMG @ 50ft? HA HA

That place doesn't look any closer than Angeles from SM, but Angeles closes earlier...

You'ld be surprised at how often someone comes in with one. I've even done it just to test loads for signs of pressure, make sure everything is OK after a new trigger install, etc. I like to make sure everything is working BEFORE I drive 500+ miles to a match! Also, I've brought one of my 50s and/or my 1919there just to let newbees fire a round or ten! BTW, with a 1000 yard zero my rifle hits about 3" low at 50'.

The idea of .50 indoors doesn't sound like fun to my ears! Amazing... My ears ring bad enough from my 460S&W, even doubling up hearing protection!

Always DOUBLE UP on ear protection when shooting a 50, even outdoors! The noise is bad but the dust that blows up due to the muzzle break is worse. If you're ever up this way and want to play with a 50 (or a 1919)@ 50' just PM me and I'll try to meet you there.
