Interchangable magazines?

I'm trying to find some >10 magazines for my Bushmaster 7.62x39 AR. Nobody seems to have them right now.
Then I got to thinking that my 6.8 magazines might work in a pinch. I compared the two sizes and they look exactly the same. Same follower, same size and spacing on the feed-ramps.
So would there be a problem loading up the 6.8 SPC mags with 7.62x39 rounds? (As long as I make sure it goes in the right rifle.)
I also looked on the vendor sites that sell mag parts and they don't seem to differentiate between followers for different calibers. Are all AR mag followers the same?

Nope. I have a vacation home in Oregon and I have them delivered up there to be used exclusively in Oregon.
When I'm in Oregon I use 15 round mags in my M1 carbine and 20 round mags for the Ruger Mini-14. All bought, owned and used legally.
All I'm looking for now is a source or a work-around.

Ignoring the large-capacity magazine legalities, if the 6.8 magazine will hold and feed the 7.62x39 cartridges without issues and without modifications of the magazine, then it's legal to do regardless of the capacity of the magazine.

Since you mentioned large-capacity magazines, I'm going to assume you are LEO or Armored Car personnel and can lawfully purchase large-capacity magazines. In that case, you could modify your 6.8 LCM's so that they could feed 7.62x39 cartridges, because you would be exempt from the manufacturing clause. But if that is the case, then why don't you just mail order large-capacity 7.62x39 magazines?

Large-capacity 6.8 magazines probably won't be as reliable than dedicated 7.62x39 magazines since the taper on the 7.62x39 round is much greater than the 6.8 cartridge. That's why 6.8 magazines look externally almost identical to 5.56 USGI magazines and 7.62x39 magazines look much more curved like an AK mag.

Legality is not an issue since they are not for use in California. The whole point of asking about interchangeability was because I can't find a source for >10 round, 7.62x39 mags.
