I have been wanting to put one together for a few years now. I got a decent tax return and black rifles have gained more acceptance in these past few years, so I decided to finally do it. I wanted to stay in the $800 range and use USA made parts when possible.
From Ammo Bros
Stag lower: $119 (on special) + tax + DROS = $155
Magpul rear MBUS = ~$60
Magpul 10/20 Pmags = $20 x 2 + tax = $44
From Marks Armory
Del-Ton 16" rifle kit = $470
(includes upper, BCG, charging handle, lower parts kit, M4 style stock, buffer & spring)
Bullet button = $20
+ shipping = $20
Total $725 plus $44 for two mags.
Satisfaction of giving the finger to the state of Kalifornia? Priceless.
Great service and communication from Marks Armory by the way. I got lucky that they had the rifle kit in stock. I originally wanted the CMMG kit, but they were backordered til who knows when. I saw The Del-Ton kit in stock one day, researched the hell out of it, found out that actual owners are happy with them.
Just did a range day, sighted in the irons (or should I say iron-n-plastic?) and not a hiccup. Shot some old Malaysian M193, and some handloads, all fired perfectly. Pretty satisfying to hear that "pting" of a steel plate at 150 yards!

I don't think there's anything wrong with Del-Ton stuff. The fit to the lower is tight, the finish looks great. 4140 vs 4150 steel, the zombies won't know the difference. No chrome lined barrel, no problem as I actually clean my guns. No full auto BCG necessary either.
I'm convinced that Del-Ton doesn't forge or machine every part on their kits; they use the same suppliers as other "more preferred" brands.
I would like a better trigger though, something with not so firm a pull.
