Palmetto State Armory has Federal XM193F for the same price as the X-tac...maybe I'll get some of both, so I'll have some regular FMJ as well as some steel core (just in case I need extra penetration ).

I've been shooting the Russian stuff for awhile now, mostly because it's affordable. I find it's no harder to clean my rifle than when shooting brass. Just picked up some of this for $199/1K from Wideners for less than Ammoman Russian w/free shipping ($240/1K):

Works great for the range and tac training. I've shot plenty of brass, and am holding the remainder along with my collection of spent casings for when I get into the swing reloading. Once I go there, I'll spend the $$ on brass rounds.

Right now, Cabelas "American Eagle" .223 $5.79/20 sale. Also, if you buy $150 or more $5 shipping! It's brass cased. Shipping special ends 5/17/11 so 28 cents a round (not factoring $5 shipping, but that's peanuts)

I just picked up 20 boxes of the stuff. I won't buy steel cases because I reload and that gives the brass stuff more value than the original loaded round.

I prefer 193, but my build runs wolf and tula just fine. Wont group for crap, but it goes bang.

Go figure, most of my buddies with factory built AR's wont run steel case, but my home built runs it with ease.

Best thing you can do is buy a bunch of different ammo (including the cheap stuff) and test it. Every gun runs a little different.

OK, I just ordered 200 rounds of Federal XM193 and 200 rounds of PMC X-Tac M855 from PalmettoStateArmory.com.

If you're just plinking Tula is just fine. I shoot it out of my Del-Ton all day long. I get it from sgammo.com for around $190/k shipped.
