I personally don't really see the need for a removable scope mount.
Your case should be setup to transport the complete rifle.
Then you can have a REALLY solid mounting setup.

Visually, the LaRue kicks butt on the Talbot.

I have a few LaRue mounts on my personal guns.
    They repeat very well.
Close enough that differences in wind will cause you more problems than the mount.

I don't really NEED the quick change function as I don't move sights around.
I just like how well made the mounts are.
I pretty much have the same opinion you do as far as "I really don't need QD mounts, I just love the way they're made." I had the good fortune to try out both, and was won over (as were observers) not only on the Talbot's performance/engineering/"tank-like" construction, but that they are actually as good (if not better) than any solid mount out there. Hey, everyone has their own favorite - mine just happened to cost me an arm and a leg!!!- which is why you might already be better off not having tried the TQDS- you're happy w/ what you have & that's what matters!!!

I just don't like how the picatinny base grabs the rail at such a narrow distance.
I went and looked at Talbot's website.
They look great on regular receivers, but picatinny rails are better served with more conventional picatinny rings and risers.

Is there 20MOA of elevation built into the mount?
You are going to want that for shooting F-class.

No, it's 0MOA. Thanks for the tip, I'll call Al tomorrow & he'll swap me a 20. His customer service is almost better than his mounts!!

Thanks! Hey, I got to meet TOOZ up at Harrah's S. Lake Tahoe about a year before he left this planet. Got to wear his Superbowl (XVI(?)) ring-it almost outweighed BlackMamba!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all the cool props, men. Check it out: I had the scope off today and decided to (~GULP~)weigh her. Without scope/ringmount: an EVEN 15 lbs. Holy christ, what have I done? It's alive!!...... It's .....ALIVE!!!!!!
