    Local Ranges

Where can I shoot steel core 5.56mm rounds near the San Jose area. My search skills apparently suck major ***. Metcalf is the closest to me but I'm not sure if i'm allowed to shoot them.

You can shoot at Sunnyvale Rod and Gun Club in the foothills by Stevens Creek Reservoir. I don't see why 5.56 would be a problem at any rifle range.

              Ian-steel core

Any recommendations for places to shoot. doesn't necessarily have to be a range

Go to Compton, Ca. They shoot guns there all the time. Shoot what you bring... LOL

OP- save your steel core ammo for when you want to go out in the middle of nowhere to shoot through more solid targets. just pick up regular ammo for plinking

Interesting. Are you saying that Sunnyvale will not let you shoot M855's? I used those there once to sight in a new optic with no issues.
