    Honestly...

Is it really as easy to do a full Saiga conversion?

I know this gets asked, but never, at least to me, clarified enough.

Everyone says it is easy if you have some mechanical ability. What does one define as ability? Are we talkin' basic changing a tire level, or motor rebuild level.

    I appreciate the input.

check out the site saiga12.com there are guys over there who have done conversions on saigas numerous times, and they will likely explain everything you need to know about it, if you politely ask

      edit*

actually, you should probably do a search of their forums first, im sure there are numerous threads on it already. but if there is anything in particular you dont understand, they can explain it to you, especially if you try to do the conversion yourself and encounter issues

Basically if you can use a screwdriver, punch, pair of pliers and a drill, you're going to be able to do it. Everyone says grinder, but I just used a drill and centerpunch to drill off the triggerguard rivets.

        Really simple stuff.

Yep, hand drill and a dremel was pretty much all that was needed. I couldn't believe how easy it was. I'd put the skill level in the same avenue as building an AR.

There are plenty of videos on youtube that show you the step by step.
