    Thompson or Civilian Equivilant

What is the going price for a .45 Thompson (if there is another chamber) and where can you find one?

    Too heavy.
    GI mags won't fit.
Bad sights. (M1 version w/side bolt retract)

    But I love mine!

I'm pretty sure I've been using GI mags in mine.

Average price at the gun show was about $1200+ for one. Never seen or heard of anyone with one so idk how they do.

I love mine. What are your alternatives as far as a 1400 dollar firearm. As it's worth, that is all subjective. Ammo gets expensive unless you reload...

              Mine's a RAW - they're A LOT more more fun with a 50 rnd drum!.

But the criticisms are valid. They are very heavy (when compared to a comparable modern .45 sub mg like the HK UMP) and the sights do suck. No way to mount modern optics on them. However, they were never meant to be a target gun. Hold it up and spray. Virtually no recoil or muzzle jump. You can write your name on the wall with it at 10-15 yards.

Thompson makes several guns which will accept barrels chambered in just about anything you can think of.

If you are just refering to one specific model or group of Thompsons (like Thompson submachine guns) then, a quick bit of googling on your part will answer your questions.

I'm not sure where in CA you're located, but I do know that Don over at Straightline Tactical (Anaheim, CA) has a few on display.

Check em out if you're in the area.

                      More to the point.
GI mags have a round hole for the mag catch and won't work in semi-auto without modding the hole so it can catch.
Or, you can mod the mag catch and just slam GI mags in it without futzing with all of your mags. Mine has the latter.
Either way you start with GI mags. You are right there.

I bought my AK from Don. I saw the thompson hanging on the wall. That is my altime favorite gun. I want one I think his was $1499.00 but i`m thinking it shoots 45 cal it would probly cost me $5000 a day to shoot it.
