old 5.56 wont fit in magazine(pics included)

i was given a bunch of old .223 and a box of 5.56 today and the 5.56 will not fit in the magazine for my ar or the mini 14. i noticed the bullet on the 5.56 was a bit longer than the .223

i wanna shoot this in my ar but i think ill only be able to load one in the chamber at a time. but i dont think that would be the best idea since some of the ammo had some beat up looking necks and some had cracks.

well any info would be useful if not i guess ill just keep the box for fun.

    anywho here are the pics

I'm guessing the offending ammo is somebody's reloads, especially since the box says fmj and they appear to have an open tip. Also they appear to be winchester primers in LC cases. It is my policy not to shoot other peoples reloads.

Yeah look like reloads. I wouldn't trust them.

BTW, that's one heck of a split in the neck of that round, I wouldn't shoot it, how much you got? might be worth the time to pull it for components

Sure doesnt look like new rounds to me. Looks like someone who didnt know what they were doing used bad cases and reloaded some rounds without seating the bullet all the way.

RUN, dont walk away from those rounds!

How can you tell without knowing what kind of bullet it is?

Is 20 rounds of ammo worth risking your rifle and your well being?

I agree, dump em at the local range.
