    Off list lower question

    Hey all

I'm looking at getting a stripped lower receiver for a new AR build.

JD Machine Tech manufactures and sells stripped lowers and I would like to buy one of them, however I don't see them on the list of OLL. I assume that because they are being sold in CA they are legal, however I want to play it safe.

Can someone confirm that this is a legal lower receiver to have in CA?

Way to pay it forward Bobby

Pwnage, there is a List of Lowers that are considered AW by name. Now anything that is NOT on that list is considered an OffListLower (OLL) There will never be a continual up to date list of OLLs because new ones come to the market constantly. Plus its just an oxymoron anyways.

Review the list of banned lowers, if your lower is not on that list then your golden. Now either go featureless or BB, make sure to follow all the rules 16"barel length 30" overall length etc... and you will be shooting in no time.

Please learn the laws before you start shooting, remember, we want to be part of the solution not part of the problem. Every arrest of someone with a "Black Rifle" is more ammunition for them to try and take them away. So be smart, learn your facts and laws and have a great time.

P.S. all the info you need is here on CG below are the banners up top you see AW&OLL guides... it's your best friend

        Guys

        Thanks for the replies.

        @r6raff
I have done a lot of research and I have every intention of following all the laws. I certainly don't want to ruin any work that CG or any other org has done. I'm going to go BB.

What do you guys think of this build?

        JD stripped lower receiver
        DD Lower kit
Daniel Defense M4 URG, v4 (Does this come with a DD barrel, and bolt carrier assembly?)
        Magpul CTR Stock Kit
Magpul Enhanced Trigger Guard (I will probably buy/install this later on)
        Bullet Button
        Ergo Ambi Grip

Looks like you got a solid build there man, DD lpk are smooth and easy to install, never had a single issue installing these. DD v4 is a great upper you are going to love it.

the only suggestion I would make would be to look at Raddlock instead of the Bullet Button. With the Raddlock you have the bullet button option, but with a few twists of the screw you have a fully functional mag release, you know, for when you go to a free state or need to defend your family from the zombie apocolypse

Also, look into the BCM Gunfighter Charging handles, I didnt think they were anything special until I bought one, now every AR I will ever own will have one. Try one out and you will know what I am talking about.

            Happy building

I'll look into the raddlock, and maybe really customizing my upper. Originally I was thinking of building everything from scratch. There were a few problems with that:

              1. I'm familiar with the AR but not that familiar. Meaning I don't know all the parts I would need.
              2. It seems like it would be more expensive for me to get a dd barrel and bolt carrier group on top of everything else.

I do plan on making modifications later on. I need to let my wallet heal after this round.

Have you guys had experience with the Noveske Pig snout.

What do think of the EoTech clones like these?

Most all Maglock devices will have that warning, and if I made a maglock device I would include that warning to. I can't remember which it is, but one did get recognized as meeting the requirements that configure the weapon in a fixed manner. However, even that one is not "approved" DoJ will never approve any maglock device.

The law is pretty straight forward, and Raddlock, Prince50, Bulletbutton etc... all achieve the same directive. I was just merely making a recommendation, ultimately you will be out there shooting the rifle and you need to be 100% comfortable with what you are shooting, especially law wise. One day you may be questioned about the legality of your weapon, even challenged by authorities who are uneducated about these matters (Ohh yes, they do exist)

As for the Noveske Pig... I hear it is loud, one of those piss off the guys next to you type of compensator. Other than that, they look kinda cool, but I would opt for something else.

I have an eotech 511 that is awesome, produces a crystal clear site picture and the redot almost seems to project itself onto the target regardless of the distance. I have never use a clone but I doubt it would be as good. The problem with anything said made for airsoft or great for airsoft, is that its not going to hold zero very well, maybe not lose zero ever shot, but you will be adjusting it. I havent had to re zero my eotech in over 3000rounds and I have removed it from my upper many many times while cleaning. Getting a lowcost optic is fine, but dont expect it to be tits, keep searching for deals on quality red dots and glass, CG here has a but ton of great deals everyday, just troll the classifieds.
                Hmm...

I guess that I want to see one of the pig snouts in action before I get one.

I just priced out the build and there is a bit of sticker shock. Any recommendations on trying to stick to under 1200 for the complete rifle?

The Noveske KX3 is optimized for use on barrels measuring 10.5" or shorter. You can install it on a 16"-longer if you like the look
