    Stag Arns upper

Was at Riflegear today to buy upper for my ar. only thing they had that would have worked was marked .223 on barrel. checked Stag arm's web site, nad they don't list a .223, only 5.56.

Anyone know anything about this. going to call Stag tomarrow.

So you saw an upper being marketed as a stag upper with a barrel marked .223?

Are you sure it was a Stag? 100%? You did mention Stag Arns which is a competitior with Stag Arms.

I'll forward this to Riflegear as they are a good company that isn't going to pass off something as Stag that isn't. There is a good explanation for this.

We do not misrepresent our products. If we have a Stag Arms upper with a barrel marked .223 then you can be assured it came to us from the manufacturer in that configuration. Please contact me with the name or description of the sales person that helped you and I will try to look for the upper you were shown to find out what the story is. You can contact me at info@riflegear.com

Why wouldn't you just call riflegear to begin with?

32 posts and he was at Riflegear when this happened...why would he think to call them. He had no idea Riflegear was a high standing member here and asked the community to solve this riddle.

I am sure there was a misunderstanding of some kind.

I am wondering where this .223 marking was on the barrel? Armalite and RRA are the only manufacture that mark .223 to the best of my knowledge. The rest just mark 5.56 or nothing at all.

That is exactly what I started thinking. I need to go check my barrels and see if they started marking them .223.

I just looked at 5 different Stag rifles on the wall and several uppers in the warehouse. Other than the model 5, which is marked 6.8 SPC, all of the barrels I saw are marked 5.56 so I have no idea what the OP was looking at or thought he saw. We don't even carry a single AR rifle, upper, or barrel chambered in .223

no needz to worry newb ER shaw or Rock Creek both US Companies makes there barrels and specs them in american .223 (the right way) - the 5.56 (but spec'd in commymetric size) round is for all intensive purposes of this thread identical and that rifle can shoot both with no issue.

The OP was correct! I just found a model 4H upper with a barrel marked .223. The 4H rifle and the 4HL upper we have in stock are both marked .556 so this is either a one-time mistake on Stag Arms part or an unannounced change. I assume it was just a mistake but will give them a call in the AM to find out for sure.
