    Bushmaster Upper

    Hey guys,

I'm an AR-15 Noob. Anyways, my bro lives in Oregon and was selling his Bushmaster AR-15. Now, I know he can't sell it to me, but can I take the upper receiver and buy a CA legal Lower? This is the model he has.

Yes you can. I'm surprised that he would want to separate a complete factory rifle though......

Yes he can sell it to you and yes you can put it on a CA legal OLL. I had a M4a3 upper a few years back and it was a GREAT upper wish I never got rid of it. It was a older model but it was a quality gun. I hear a lot of mixed things about bushmaster these days but if you can get a deal on it I say get it.

They only have a bad rap from the ACR having problems at first. You know going full auto out of the box. They are a good company. There products are ok to use.

You guys have any suggestions for a CA compliant complete lower? My budget would be $500.

For $500, you can assemble a damn nice lower, without cutting corners.

                Lower: $120
LWRC lower parts kit w/enhanced trigger group, minus grip: $110
                Grip: $30
                Stock assembly: $150
                Mag lock: $30
Couple of 10/20 or 10/30 Magpul mags: $45

                =$485

If you're out towards Sacramento, Sacramento Black Rifles has a complete LMT lower with collapsible stock for $400 per today's "Thursdays Deals" in the commercial sales folder. LMT has a pretty good reputation, better than Bushmaster in their prime. There's also a complete lower "from $299.99" and you can put the $200 towards a really good trigger.

Thanks for the support Evidens & Sonny. I usually head up to Reno twice a month and would probably check out Sac Black rifle.

This is not true, They started having a bad rap way before the ACR even cam into production. In my opinion those m4a3's are solid uppers though, at least the one I owned was.
