Fun at Angeles today with AR

I met some really cool people today at Angeles One person helped me sight in my AR which really helped since it was off after I got the carry handle on my LMT. I should have kept it a flat top with rear sight. But its right on at 100 yards now.

I also met a guy who let me try his HK 45 USC That was very cool.

To anyone who knows more about this than I do:

I always hear of some people sighting it in at 25yds.....which is better, 100 or 25?

First time out I sighted at home to 25 yrds. It was really close @ 100 yrds.

Couple adjustments it was right on.

I really applaud experienced shooters helping noobs with their questions and getting sorted out.
Be patient with them and they will pass on the good experiences/know-how with others they encounter. Winning the hearts and minds if you will.
I am glad someone with the right skills stood up and helped you out.
              Pass it on.

i zero at 50 yards on my AR. gives a more usable zero from 50 to 200 yards.

I like a 100 yd zero on AR's but thats my preference.

Well, way back when, the Army used a 25 yard zero for the sixteen. Supposedly what with the sight offset and all it allowed point-blank aim out to 250 on the qual range, with a little hold-over necessary for 300. I imagine that might've changed in the last few decades.

I set up my Mini, MN, and the irons on my bolt gun like old Uncle Elmer used to set up all of his rifles: 3" high and 1/2" left at 100. That will give you pretty much the same set-up: Good for point blank out to 250 or so. (The 1/2" left is to allow for drift due to RH rifling twist.)
I meant, it is my opinion that...

It looks like 25m/25yd is the way to go then. Thanks.
