If someone had a MAK-90 is there a cheap receiver that can be ordered and sent to a gun store? It's probably not worth it since we can get a CA legal ak for $399 so probably $500 after taxes and registration. But if there is a CA legal receiver for $200 or less equipped with a bullet button it might be worth it instead of trashing the mak-90. It would need to work with a Norinco. I'm thinking since the receiver of the ak has the barrel attached it wouldn't be cost effective.

Is there any CA legal ak style receivers for sale?

There isn't a Chinese "spec" receiver currently available commercially. Supposedly AK builder will be offering a flat for DIY builders but it seems to have stalled for the time being...

So your saying you going to disassemble it and use it as a part kit? I thought you were going to turn in the whole rifle.Comment

I'm not saying I even possess such a rifle. Here is a theoretical question. What if someone had a receiver made custom so it had no serial numbers on it and was fitted with a bullet button. Could the parts be attached to it? Would it matter if the receiver matched a mak-90 receiver exactly only it had a bullet button and no other writing on it?

Edit: I dont know if the mak-90 will fit a regular ak receiver.Last edited by 7.62 Charlie; 04-15-2011, 3:08 AM.Comment

The MAK90 will not fit a standard stamped ak receiver, and im not aware of any commercially available receivers. Basically you're hosed until curtis finishes those flats. If you want you could sell the mak90 kit for a few hundred dollars, and use that money towards a wasr or other parts kit or some such.sigpicOriginally posted by Dr. ElkyIf your a man who wears white sunglasses, your probably a douche bagOriginally posted by CSACANNONEERI've been know to cross dress and go the other way at certain events.Comment

Hypothetical answer to a hypothetical question.
I'd cut up and destroy the receiver and then I'd wait and get the Mak 90 flat and build an AK or I'd sell the parts remaining to someone who wants to build their own.
The parts kit would sell for more than $200 easily.
Either way I'd destroy the receiver ASAP and avoid any possible legal problems.^^ Said by some lunatic on the internetComment

Hopefully this receiver is out of state. If it's in state, do not transport it, that's a definite felony. Possession can be a felony or misdemeanor. If in state, you should find an attorney and destroy/turn in to police. If out of state, disassemble, bring parts back, and leave receiver out of state. Or just sell it out of state. Some people have them in KA and remove the receivers, cut them up, and dispose of the receiver pieces in separate ways . That would be illegal so we can't recommend it.RKBA Clock: soap box, ballot box, jury box, cartridge box (Say When!)

However, you could bend your own with no numbers or get an NDS w/#'s and that would be legal.
If: Could the parts be attached to it? Yes.
If: Would it matter if the receiver matched a mak-90 receiver exactly only it had a bullet button and no other writing on it? It's fine, something will work. Doesn't need #'s if you build it.
If: theoretical situation - a person is worried they are in possession of an assualt weapon (this terminalogy is stupid and pajoritive - see new ads about banning "assualt clips").... But then they realize the recieve is cut at the front and rear - the middle section is gone the rivits have been ground down and the front and rear sections of the reciever are gone. This person realizes they are only in possession of gun parts /// as legal as a set of dishes and can now assemblem them on a nds or bend a flat or sell them as parts etcComment

Thanks Dan, Frankm, cannon, tujungatoes, and 7.62 Charlie

Ausa had some 1.6 mm receivers available. Not sure if they still make them, but they can still be found. You can probably also build using ak builders 1.5mm receiver although some items won't fit without modification (ie trigger guard)Comment
