    Remington 700 SPS

I really want a Bolt action rifle chambered in 308. I've been researching and reading reviews on them and I'm leaning towards the Remington 700 SPS-V or SPS Tactical. My issue is, where is a good place to purchase one from(SoCal/online)? Who has the best deals on them? Is there another rifle option that I should consider around the same price point? Chime in...all replies will be appreciated.

I bought mine through the Davidsons's Gun Genie thing. Turners had a decent sale price on the SPS-V line, but had no .308's when I went to buy mine.

I just purchased a remington 700 sps Varmint in .308. (its still in jail til thursday)with the 26" barrel. I got it from chino hills turners. I got the last one. They should be getting more in stock. They were like 619 but on sale for 574 plus a 75 mail in rebate. So I think after all fees, taxes, sales, rebates, I will end up paying 575 total. Turners has a great deal on them right now, among other things.

Bass Pro? That's where I always hear people say they got a good deal on them.

I got mine from Bass Pro (Ontario, Ca) 24" barrel model. Cost was something like $590. Add a Nikon 3-9x40 scope, Leupold rings & mount, DROS & tax, out the door was just under $1000 I'm very happy with it

I just went through the same dilemma, after much research and an internal struggle I went with a Tikka Varmint in 308; however, I do believe I bought the last new Tikka Varmint 308 in the USA!! In the beginning, I was going to go with the Remmy Varmint for $500 after the rebate. I realized I would have to upgrade the stock and trigger on the Remmy to make it what I felt it should be. I spent more on the Tikka then I wanted to spend, but I have a rifle that is good to go out of the box and needs no upgrades. Well maybe one or two but they do not affect the accuracy. I am now at peace with my purchase and cannot wait until I can take possession.

SPS-V is good to go out of the box.

People say the trigger sucks, mine breaks at 2 lbs.

Here is a target, 5 shots 100 yards. Shoots better than me.

Nice shooting. I'm going to Turners this weekend and making my purchase. I'm still not sure which SPS, I'll fondle them and then decide.

                  Thanks everyone!

I went with the "Varmint" because it come with 26" bbl 1/12 twist shoots 155's really well and they are cheaper than 168-175-180.

I think the tactical comes in 1/10" twist.

Dont forget the rebate for the sps V if you go that route. Really good deal, I love mine!

Same here. But does the 1/12 have trouble stabilizing 180+? I really like shooting the Winchester Super X soft tip rounds. They are extremely accurate.

^^^ have not tried those yet. I doubt it will suffer in accuracy, but prob not as good as 155-168 amax's.
