    Remington USMC M40

    Does anyone know the specifics on this particular M40 that was put out about 5 year ago. I know it was to replicate the 1966 Vietnam M40 and some new mod's were made. How does this compare to modern spec's?

    Are you asking about what the USMC uses or the Remington Model 40 series?

    AFAIK for the USMC, they took a commerical Remington Model 700 and then modified it in house...
    1966 = M-40
    1972 = M-40A1
    2001 = M-40A3
    2009 = M-40A5

    The Remington Model 40 series is Remington marketing "sniper rifles" for law enforcement use and are not made to the USMC specs.

    AFAIK...
    G.A. Precision is the only commerical manufacturer that makes (M-40A1, M-40A3 & M-40A5) rifles that meet the USMC specs and according to them, they build the M-40A5 for the USMC.

      If you want to replicate an m40, a member over at sniper central did one a while back. http://www.snipercentral.com/forums/...ic.php?t=11137

        At the Reno show a few years back there was what looked just like an M40 - same stock plain walnut stock, same metal finish - except it had been marketed by Remington as an LE rifle. It was priced at about $500.00 and I'm still kind of kicking myself for not getting it. No idea what the model was named.

            ^^^
            The one I referenced looked the same, but it cost much less and the folks selling it specifically said it was modeled after the M40 but for LE.

              Omega13device is correct, the LE M40 is the one I am requesting information on.
