Bore laser sights.. worth it or just a gaget?

Sorry if this is a nube question.. I have an iron sight M4, and am currently building an LR-10 i plan to put optics on. Knowing nothing about scopes and such, is a bore sight such as Sightmark, Osprey Firefield Aimshot etc... worth buying, or are they just gagetry?

    Thanks for input.

PS.. LR-10 will be mostly for target and expensive plinking.

Well it will not completely sight in your rifle. They are just to get you on paper then you do the fine tuning yourself. I have never found the need for one and will never buy one.

I had one a long time ago and sold it. Nearly worthless gadget.

For firearms that you can visually sight down the barrel through the breach, you can be on paper at 100 yards in one shot with no gadget. For firearms with which you are unable to view down the barrel through the breach (M14, and others) you can just put a target at 25 yards and do it that way.

Very worthless, after about 5 mins on running it, the laser started to fade and go dead. May have been the batteries or the cheap brand, either way not impressed.

There trash. The 30 bucks u spend on one u can buy good match ammo and sight it in manually! I sighted my FAL with one and was way off but today I sighted in with gold medal federals and now I can keep a bowling pin bouncing at 200yards.

Worthless. I received one as a gift and tried it out indoors -- seemed to work fine. Went outside to the range and I couldn't even see the red dot past 10 feet. Totally useless!

dont waste you money. put the gun on somthing stable, pull out the bolt, look down the barrel at a target. keep the gun still and adjust the retical to the same point your looking at on the target. adjust final zero with live fire.

works well for windage and getting a general idea regarding elevation. for ranges less than 100 yds its good to align center. Use it to do preliminary sighting when changing out optics or what have you. will save a considerable amount of time and ammo. I have bushnells and I think their laser dial thing is asinine.
