you wont find anything like that at walmart, doubt big 5 would have any either. those I would order online. as far as mags it may be the same deal with the exception of 50 beowulf that uses AR 5.56 mags

personally if I wanted a bigger round AR, you cant go wrong with 7.62x51 ARs.

450 will probably be the easiest to find ammo for due to hornady being involved in its development. Uses AR mags with a different follower.

458 will be tuff to find ammo, uses standard AR mags.

50 hard to find ammo, proprietary mags.

All three have ammo available at Midway right now.

I went the 50 Beowulf route and have never regretted it even when the ammo was scarce. Brass and ammo is fairly easy to come by now. There was a period where you waited 6-12 months or more for ammo but the supply has pretty much been worked out now. The mags are unmodified 30 round AR mags (bonus is that they function just fine with 5.56 when you're in a free state).

Ooh. If you reload, go .458. That's my next venture. Shares bullets with the 45-70.
Just looking around for uppers wondering if there's anything but the RRA. If not, I'll save up for one of those. I need to go skulk around the 458 forums a little.

Wrong, .50 Beowulf uses standard 5.56 mags.

So if a standard 30rd = a 10rd .50 beowulf then how can you use them or even have them assembled in Ca if you did not own them before 2000?

This has been covered so many times before. A 30 round 5.56 mag equals to 10 rounds .50 Beowulf, so if you actually own a ,50 Beowulf upper there is no problem because it only holds 10 rounds of .50 Beowulf.

Mags are also marked AA 50 beowulf/ and are modified standard ar15 mags

"Alexander Arms .50 Beowulf 10 Round Magazine
Compact magazine, hold 10 rounds of 50 Beowulf ammo. Legal in any state.
About the same dimensions as a 20 rd AR15 mag, so great for using on the shooting bench or in the field"

exactly, just like you could buy 40 cal glock mags, load them with 9mm and use them in the 9mm they would hold 12 or 13 rounds. same deal diff mag

The 50 Beowulf magazine issue has been discussed here last year.

You can also use unmodified 30 for a ten round 450 mag.

I have a .450 Bushmaster and I have to order my ammo online all the time.. I live in the Central Valley and been to big 5, walmart, etc.. even bass pro shops (which they said they would never stock that round)..
